What is the Center for Health Services Research?
Health services research is a "multidisciplinary field of scientific investigation that studies how; social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, health technologies, and personal behaviors affect access to healthcare, the quality and cost of health care, and ultimately our health and well-being" (AcademyHealth).
The main goals are to "identify the most effective ways to organize, manage, finance, and deliver high quality care; reduce medical errors; and improve patient safety" (AHRQ).
The University of Kentucky Center for Health Services Research (UK-CHSR) serves as a component of the University of Kentucky's efforts to become a national model for a thriving, public, residential, research-intensive campus and UK HealthCare advancing to serve the health care needs of Kentucky and beyond. The Center particularly focuses on how best to enhance the value of health care delivered by a well-integrated health delivery system to individuals, families, organizations, institutions, communities, and populations.
