CHSR staff and faculty collected and prepared 40 winter blessing bags to give to those in the Lexington community who are homeless and/or in shelters. The blessing bags contained snacks, travel-size toiletries, socks/hats/gloves, water bottles, hand warmers, grooming supplies, and other useful items, including CARE KY informational cards*. These bags were donated to the Catholic Action Center’s Compassionate Caravan, a program that offers cold weather supplies and rides to shelters for those in need when the weather is life-threatening. Although the Caravan tries to help those without shelter find it, many people refuse. The blessing bags help provide basic supplies to those individuals; we also hope that the blessing bags communicate that someone cares about their needs.
Many thanks to the Catholic Action Center for handing out our blessing bags through their Compassionate Caravan! It was our honor to make and prepare these for those in need!!
