Health Informatics

Health Informatics is the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management and planning. With health IT playing an integral role in health care reform, understanding how to maximize its effectiveness has never been more important. UK-CHSR’s health informatics research aims to achieve better and safer care through effectively organizing, analyzing, managing and using information in health care to:

•   Improve quality of care and reduce costs (i.e., maximize value)
•   Improve patient safety
•   Improve medication management
•   Enhance self-management of chronic disease
•   Enhance patient-clinician communication
